Report on Women’s Protest in Support of Girls’ Education in Afghanistan

A group of Afghan women human rights defenders and civil society activists held a peaceful protest in support of girls’ right to education in Afghanistan. The demonstration aimed to draw international attention to the ongoing restrictions on women’s and girls’ access to education and to call for urgent global action.

The participants carried banners and messages demanding the reopening of schools and universities for Afghan girls and the full restoration of their right to education. They emphasized that education is a fundamental and inalienable human right, and that depriving girls of education poses a serious threat to the future of Afghan society.

During the protest, the head of an organization supporting women’s rights and education in Afghanistan also participated and stated that education and justice are a “vital condition” for social survival, human development, and long-term stability in the country. She stressed that without equal access to education for women and girls, no society can achieve genuine peace, progress, or justice.

She further called on the international community, human rights institutions, and global organizations to strengthen their cooperation with the people of Afghanistan, especially women and girls, and to take a firm and practical stance against restrictions on education.

The participants also warned that continued limitations on girls’ education constitute a serious violation of human rights and may have long-term negative consequences for future generations in Afghanistan. They urged the international community to apply diplomatic, political, and legal pressure to ensure that girls are allowed to return to schools and universities.

The protest took place amid growing national and international concern over the situation of girls’ education in Afghanistan, with human rights activists calling for immediate and effective global action to address the issue.
